Sinister Sites: The Georgia Guidestones

Source: vigilantcitizen.com

The Georgia Guidestones is a mysterious monument on which are carved ten “commandments” for a “New Age of Reason”. The first commandment? Maintaining the world population under 500 million people. Another sinister fact: the authors of what we now call the American Stonehedge are still a “mystery”… except for those in the know. We will look at the numerous features of this monument, its message calling for a New World Order and explain how it is the work of an occult secret society.

Note: One of the first articles I ever wrote on this site, back in late 2008, was about the Georgia Guidestones. I removed the article about a year ago, however, when I came across some vital information: the explanation of the rules written by the hidden authors themselves as well as other documents. So if you are a long-time reader of this site, please keep reading as I’ve re-written the entire article.

The Georgia Guidestones is an enigmatic granite monument situated in Elbert County, Georgia. Also known as the American Stonehedge, the gigantic structure is almost 20 feet high and is made of six granite slabs, weighing in total 240,000 pounds. The most astonishing detail of the monument is however not its size but the message engraved into it: Ten rules for an “Age of Reason”. These guides touch upon subjects that are associated with the “New World Order”, including massive depopulation, a single world government, the introduction of a new type of spirituality, etc. The authors of those rules have requested to remain totally anonymous and, until now, their anonymity has been duly preserved. However, this mysterious group left a text explaining the reasoning behind the rules, a text that was not discussed online before. With this new information, the purpose behind the Guidestones become very clear, leaving little room for hypotheses. The Guidestones describe the ideal world, as envisioned by occult Secret Societies. The monument is therefore proof of an existing link between secret societies, the world elite and the push for a New World Order.

The Monument

Made of Pyramid blue granite, the Georgia Guidestones are meant to withstand the test of time and to communicate knowledge on several levels: philosophically, politically, astronomically, etc. It consists of four major stone blocks, which contain ten guides for living in eight languages: English, Spanish, Swahili, Hindi, Hebrew, Arabic, Chinese, and Russian. A shorter message is inscribed at the top of the structure in four ancient languages’ scripts: Babylonian, Classical Greek, Sanskrit, and Egyptian hieroglyphs. It is important to note that those last four ancient languages are of a great importance in the teachings of occult mystery schools, such as the Freemasons and the Rosicrucians, organizations I will discuss later.

The four major stones are arranged in a giant “paddlewheel” configuration which are oriented to the limits of the migration of the sun during the course of the year and also show the extreme positions of the rising and setting of the sun in its 18.6 year cycle. The center stone has two special features: first, the North Star is always visible through a special hole drilled from the South to the North side of the center stone; second, another slot aligns with the positions of the rising sun at the time of the summer and winter solstices and at the equinox.

Dumbing Down Society Parts 1-3

Source: vigilantcitizen.com

Is there a deliberate effort by the government to dumb down the masses? The statement is hard to prove but there exists a great amount of data proving that the ruling elite not only tolerates, but effectively introduces policies that have a detrimental effect on the physical and mental health of the population. This series of articles looks at the many ways the modern man is being dumbed down. Part I looks at the poisons found in everyday foods, beverages and medications.

Dumbing Down Society Part 2: Mercury in Foods and Vaccines

Even though mercury is known to degenerate brain neurons and disrupt the central nervous system, it is still found in processed foods and mandatory vaccines. In this second part of the series examining the intentional dumbing-down of society, this article will discuss the presence of mercury in common foods and vaccines.

Dumbing-Down Society Part 3: How to Reverse its Effects
The first two parts of this series describes the negative effects that some commonly consumed chemicals have on the body and brain. This third and final part looks at some natural ways to keep the brain healthy and provides tips to rid the body of dangerous substances. In other words, how to fight back against the dumbing down of society!

The Dangers of Microwave Radiation Cannot be Ignored

Source: universalresearch.ca

An experiment conducted at home for a high school science fair five years ago has verified the dangers of microwave ovens not only to humans, but even to plants and other organic matter. The experiment showed that microwaved water given to a plant causes the plant to wither and die within days; however, another identical plant given water that was boiled on a conventional stove grew normally during the same time period.

Many studies conducted throughout the world have repeatedly highlighted the deleterious effects of microwave ovens on human health. In fact microwave ovens are so dangerous that they were banned in Russia from 1976 to 1987. Twenty years of thorough research by Russian scientists convinced them that the dangers of the devices outweighed the benefits in cooking time. This experiment further verifies their findings.

In the home experiment, filtered water was divided into two parts. One part would be microwaved and allowed to cool before being given to the plant, while the second part would be heated on a conventional stove top and given to an identical plant. Results were observed over a nine day period. By the third day it was already clear that the plant given the microwaved water was not faring as well as its counterpart.

By the ninth day the microwaved plant was virtually nonexistent in its pot, having literally shrunk in size to just a few inches above the soil. The second plant was growing beautifully.

Microwaved prepared meats cause the formation of d-Nitrosodienthanolamines, a well-known carcinogen. Microwaving can also cause some amino acids in foods such as milk and cereal grains to be converted into carcinogens. Even very short exposure for cooked, frozen or raw vegetables turned their plant alkaloids into carcinogenic matter unfit for human consumption. These carcinogenic free radicals formed in plants and especially in root vegetables exposed to microwaves. Broccoli showed a 97% loss of its vitamin C when cooked in a microwave oven.

Studies have shown that human breast milk heated in microwave ovens is altered and that not only is its vitamin content depleted, but some of the amino acids are also rendered biologically inactive. Some of the altered amino acids are poisons to both the nervous system and the kidneys.

Microwave ovens do not heat food evenly. This means that some parts are overcooked, which can change their molecular structure into dangerous carcinogenic substances, while other parts are undercooked increasing the risk of food poisoning.

Not only is the food cooked in microwave ovens dangerous, but also are the devices themselves. Every part from the power chord right up to the magnetron itself, which is the part that actually emits the radiation heating the food, is dangerous due to high levels of EM emissions.

Tests performed by manufacturers at a distance of two inches show that microwaves do leak out of the devices no matter how expensive or well made the model is. However since microwave radiation drops off dramatically with distance, at 20 inches the radiation is approximately 100 times less than at 2 inches, so it’s a good idea to stand back from the unit if you must use one.

Microwaves can pass through walls, so if it’s placed against an adjacent wall, those on the other side will be exposed to higher levels of radiation.

As this experiment clearly shows, microwaving your food, even if you are just reheating your tea, is definitely not a good idea. The microwaved plant would agree if it could talk.

What a Strange Way to Protect Civilians: Depleted Uranium and Libya

"We are there to protect civilians and civilian-populated areas"
– William Hague

"I was watching ABC News last night and, lo and behold, there was a DU impact. It burned and burned and burned."
- Doug Rokke, ex-director of the Pentagon’s Depleted Uranium Project commenting on Libya attack.

"Depleted uranium tipped missiles fit the description of a dirty bomb in every way… I would say that it is the perfect weapon for killing lots of people."
– Marion Falk, chemical physicist (retd), Lawrence Livermore Lab, California, USA

To date depleted uranium’s deathly dust has traveled its horrible route from Iraq (The first Gulf War in 1990/91) to the Balkans (with the NATO attack on Serbia in 1999) to Afghanistan (2001-) and back to Iraq (2003-) Now we have the attack on Libya and I raise the question as to whether DU is being used once again in this latest "war"; whether this "nuclear waste with wings" continues its journey bringing with it short- and long-term death.

In the first 24 hours of the Libyan attack, US B-2s dropped forty-five 2,000-pound bombs. Did any of these massive bombs, along with the Cruise missiles launched from British and French planes and ships, contain depleted uranium? Doug Rokke joins others such as Conn Hallinan, of Foreign Policy in Focus, in believing that the answer is yes.

Our Choices Influence the Future Evolution of the Universe

At the recent Sages and Scientists Symposium, Deepak Chopra summarized the talk given by Henry Stapp, a theoretical physicist and an expert on the connection between mind and matter, as follows: “Every choice that we make consciously through our free will influences the future evolution of physical universe.”

We all have a vitally important role to play in creating the world of our future. Our individual conscious thoughts and choices contribute to global and universal consciousness, which determines our reality according to quantum physics.

We will discuss quantum physics in future articles. Here, we will provide seven guidelines for right thinking and right choices.

First, love yourself and believe in yourself. Eliminate self-criticism. Even if there are things about you that you want to change, you are not faulty. Self-criticism and fault finding is a false assessment of your true value.

“You must love yourself before you love another. By accepting yourself and fully being what you are, your simple presence can make others happy. “– Author Unknown

Second, always take responsibility for your decisions, your emotions, your energy, and your behaviors – no blame and no excuses. Choose to have a positive attitude, no matter what your circumstances are.

“Everything can be taken from a man or a woman but one thing: the last of human freedoms to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way.” –Viktor Frankl, Holocaust survivor and author of “Man’s Search for Meaning”

US meat and poultry widely contaminated with bacteria including superbugs

Source: NaturalNews

How would you like a big, juicy burger loaded with onions, mustard, ketchup -- and a big helping of drug-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus), a bacteria linked to a wide range of human diseases?

If you find that dish stomach-churning instead of appetizing, then maybe you should think twice before eating not only meat but chicken and turkey, too, at least in the U.S.

According to a nationwide study just released by the Flagstaff, Arizona-based Translational Genomics Research Institute (TGen), meat and poultry from U.S. grocery stores have an unexpectedly high rate of dangerous disease-causing bacteria, including antibiotic resistant superbugs. In fact, almost half (47 percent) of all meat and poultry samples tests were contaminated with S. aureus.

What's more, 52 percent of these contaminated meats contained superbugs, meaning the bacteria were resistant to multiple classes of antibiotics. That adds up to multi-antibiotic resistant Staph germs being present in about one out of every 4 samples of meat, chicken or turkey. "For the first time, we know how much of our meat and poultry is contaminated with antibiotic-resistant Staph, and it is substantial," Lance B. Price, Ph.D., senior author of the study and Director of TGen's Center for Food Microbiology and Environmental Health, said in a statement to the media.

The research, published today in the journal Clinical Infectious Diseases, is the first national investigation of antibiotic resistant S. aureus in the U.S. food supply. The scientists collected and analyzed 136 samples of beef, chicken, pork and turkey sold under 80 brands in 26 retail grocery stores in Los Angeles, Chicago, Fort Lauderdale, Flagstaff and Washington, D.C.

So where does this downright nauseating contamination come from? The TGen researchers reported that DNA testing shows the food the animals themselves were fed is likely the major source of contamination.

"The fact that drug-resistant S. aureus was so prevalent, and likely came from the food animals themselves, is troubling, and demands attention to how antibiotics are used in food-animal production today," Dr. Price added.

The dirty truth many Americans -- especially meat eaters -- don't want to face is that conditions on so-called industrial farms are not only often inhumane but downright sickening. Animals raised for slaughter are packed together densely and steadily fed low doses of antibiotics in their food. The new report concludes these industrial farms are the ideal breeding grounds for drug-resistant bacteria that can move from animals to the human population.

"The emergence of antibiotic-resistant bacteria -- including Staph -- remains a major challenge in clinical medicine," Paul S. Keim, Ph.D., Director of TGen's Pathogen Genomics Division and Director of the Center for Microbial Genetics and Genomics at Northern Arizona University (NAU), emphasized in a media statement.

"This study shows that much of our meat and poultry is contaminated with multidrug-resistant Staph. Now we need to determine what this means in terms of risk to the consumer," Dr. Keim, a co-author of the paper, added.

But doesn't the U.S. government routinely survey retail meat and poultry for drug-resistant bacteria? The study points out the feds only check for four types of superbugs -- but S. aureus is not among them. The paper urges a more comprehensive inspection program and points out S. aureus can cause devastating health problems.

While it's true Staph germs can usually be killed with proper cooking, the scientists pointed out Staph still poses a substantial health risk through improper food handling and cross-contamination in the kitchen. Infections with S. aureus can cause a range of illnesses from minor skin infections to life-threatening diseases, such as pneumonia, endocarditis (inflammation of the heart) and sepsis (infection in the bloodstream).

And should you get one of these antibiotic-resistant strains from meat or poultry, treatment can be difficult.

"Antibiotics are the most important drugs that we have to treat Staph infections; but when Staph are resistant to three, four, five or even nine different antibiotics --like we saw in this study -- that leaves physicians few options," Dr. Price stated.

Armed Agents With Tank Kidnap Child From Mother Who Used Holistic Treatments Instead of Pharmaceutical Drugs to Treat Condition Caused By Vaccines and Pharmaceutical Drugs

Source: NaturalNews

Maryanne Godboldo of Detroit, Mich., recently learned the hard way that freedom of choice in medicine is no longer tolerated by the medical mafia in the supposed "land of the free." Recently, armed officers from the Special Response Team (SRT) of the Detroit Police Department (DPD), at the command of Child Protective Services (CPS), unlawfully kicked down the door of Godboldo's home and kidnapped her 13-year-old child. Her crime? Maryanne chose to follow the lead of a doctor's recommendation to take her daughter off a pharmaceutical drug treatment recommendation for psychosis that was worsening the child's symptoms, and instead chose to use natural remedies to treat the condition.

It all started back in 2009 when Maryanne's previously-homeschooled daughter went in for a series of routine vaccinations in order to be enrolled in middle school. Shortly after receiving the shots, the child began to have severe adverse reactions that included "acting out of character, being irritated, having facial grimaces," and other behavioral problems that Maryanne's mother says she had never had before, and all of which emerged immediately after the vaccines were administered.

Maryanne voluntarily decided to take her daughter to The Children's Center (CC), a group that claims to "enhance the emotional well being of infants, toddlers, preschoolers and their families," in order to get some treatment ideas. CC prescribed Maryanne's daughter some very dangerous psychotropic drugs that eventually ended up only only making the symptoms worse.

Maryanne then consulted with an outside physician who recommended that she stop giving the drugs to her child, and instead pursue other options. Maryanne agreed and began to use holistic and natural methods instead -- and as a result, her child's overall health and well-being improved significantly.

Seven people were killed by storms in Alabama on Friday, bringing the total dead from a string of violent storms and tornadoes across the southern United States to at least 16, officials said on Saturday.
Seven people, including three children, were killed in Arkansas on Friday and two elderly sisters were killed in Oklahoma late on Thursday, authorities said.
Six of the seven fatalities in Arkansas were caused when uprooted trees smashed into houses, National Weather Service meteorologist John Robinson said. Robinson said that he could not recall a time in recent memory when so many fatalities occurred because of fallen trees in Arkansas.
Storms, some severe, are expected Saturday from the Florida Panhandle through eastern and southern Georgia, the Carolinas and Virginia, according to weather.com. Fire danger continues over the dry southern plains.
Tornadoes kill about 70 people in the United States each year.

Become a Quantum Activist

Source: Conscious Life News

Quantum Activism is about changing ourselves and creating a better world in accordance with the new paradigm articulated by Quantum Physics: consciousness creates reality. The goal of a quantum activist is to express Good, Beauty, Truth, Justice, and Love in their life and to intend those qualities for all of humanity. In doing so, the quantum activist will help transform the world.

This article is based upon the teachings of Dr. Amit Goswami, Ph.D., a retired professor emeritus of theoretical physics and the author of “Quantum Mechanics”, a highly successful textbook that is used in universities throughout the world. In addition, he the author of numerous books that bridge science and spirituality including “The Self-Aware Universe”, “Physics of the Soul”, “Quantum Creativity”, “The Quantum Doctor”, and “God is Not Dead.”

All of the quotes below are from either Dr. Goswami’s latest book “How Quantum Activism Can Save Civilization: A Few People Can Change Human Evolution” or the quantumactivist.com website that describes the award winning documentary starring Dr. Goswami called “The Quantum Activist.” There is enough here to give you a taste of their content. For a complete understanding, I highly recommend that you read the book and watch the documentary, which is available on Netflix.

Quantum Activism Quotes

“We have problems galore in our society and culture. All of these problems can be traced to the conflict between spirituality and materiality. The good news is that the worldview conflict between spirituality and materialist science has been resolved in favor of an inclusive world-view based on the primacy of consciousness and quantum physics. It took quantum physics for us to discover spirituality within science. We must use quantum physics’ guidance to restore spirituality and unity to our society.”

“We have created the problems of our world; we have to recreate the world of solutions… Conventional activism separates, us (those doing right) versus them (those doing wrong). Quantum physics says that all is movement of consciousness; we are the world. There is no us versus them. There is only movement toward consciousness or away from consciousness.”

“Quantum activism focuses both on individual and collective change. Today our activists perpetuate the separateness that creates the problems we want resolved. We ‘battle’ the perpetrators of the problems, negativity with negativity. Quantum activism will succeed where other activist movements failed because they are founded on separateness.”

“Start with yourself. Only if you change can the world change. We are just taking it a little bit further. Not only do you start with yourself, but always remember others.”

“We need to change first. We need to be inclined towards positive. If our own hearts are open and we approach things with love, then other people will pick it up.”

“Even if only a small fraction of us become inspired to change, the change will come for all.”

“Quantum physics is the physics of possibilities; possibilities proliferate when we sit quietly in the ‘be’ mode, doing nothing. Occasionally, we choose from among the possibilities precipitating an action, a ‘do’ mode.”

“If some of us could practice do good, be good, practice do-be-do-be-do regularly, be with God some of the time, and be in the ego some of the time, and let the dance generate creative acts of transformation, then I think we will hit a certain threshold and will be able to achieve very quickly the power of downward causation in unprecedented numbers. This is a threshold that will carry us towards making that fundamental step that these changes will take hold in all of humanity, not just a few of us.”

“The goal of the quantum activist is to explore quantum possibilities and manifest these archetypes—Good, Beauty, Truth, Justice, and Love—in his or her life as intimately and as expressly as one can, and in doing so to help transform the world. The means a quantum activist uses to achieve this goal are threefold—right thinking, right living, and right livelihood.”

“Right thinking consists of understanding the paradigm shift from a user’s point of view and helping others in our environment to do so. Right living consists of walking the talk, manifesting our understanding in how we live, and becoming guiding examples for the inspiration of others. As such it takes a lot of quantum leaps, openness to being in the nonlocality of God consciousness which informs the doing of the ego’s day to day activities;, and the desire to change hierarchical relationships into tangled ones. Right livelihood consists of earning our living in a way that is congruent with our modes of thinking and living and helping our entire society to achieve this congruence.”

“Our challenge is to go beyond ego to higher nonlocal consciousness and access creativity and transformation.”

“The Secret behind the Secret is that we must choose creatively in synchrony with quantum consciousness to manifest our intentions.”

If you want peace in the world, then be at peace with everyone in your life and everyone that you encounter – all of your family, coworkers, ex-spouses, even perceived enemies and people who have harmed you (see Choosing Power Over Pain).

If you want clean water and clear skies, then do everything you can to protect the environment and keep your own living environment clean.

Look at the glass as half full. Be optimistic. Choose to be happy. If you find yourself slipping into negative thoughts or a dark mood, catch yourself, and say: I choose to feel good now. Or, I choose to be happy now. Think of something that puts a smile on your face. Whistle. Sing a song.

Live your light. The more you shine your light, the more you will illuminate the way for others to see their own divine nature. The best way is to love and believe in yourself. There’s not anything that you need to go out and do. It’s about the state of being that you hold as you go through life and move through the world. It’s really very simple.

“Be the change you want to see in the world.” ~ Mahatma Gandhi

There is No Us Versus Them.

Our collective consciousness has created the problems of our world. You cannot solve the problems by fighting against anyone or anything. Avoid judging others as being wrong. And, never focus on what you don’t want. Simply, send out heart-felt intentions of what you do want.

Remember, there is only movement toward consciousness or away from consciousness.

“You cannot solve a problem from the same consciousness that created it. You must learn to see the world anew.” ~ Albert Einstein

“We are all connected to everyone and everything in the universe. Therefore, everything one does as an individual affects the whole. All thoughts, words, images, prayers, blessings, and deeds are listened to by all that is.” ~ Serge Kahili

Always Remember Others

We are all connected. When you hurt someone else (physically or emotionally) or hold grudges, you are hurting yourself.

So, forgive others. Rather than looking for faults in others, look for the good in them. Be kind and compassionate.

Also, be sure to include others in your heart-felt intentions.

“If you can stop for a moment and just give your awareness to elevating your consciousness and elevating the light within each individual as a unified whole collective, a unified oneness… If you can imagine the oneness of the universe filled with light, you can heal the world that you live in, heal your planet, and heal those that are under distress right now with tragedies that are happening in the world.” ~Simion

Mathematical Budding Model Revealed in a Lily

Source: discovery.com

"Earth laughs in flowers," Ralph Waldo Emerson said, but flowers laugh in numbers, according to two Harvard mathematicians who have modeled the blossom song of the Asiatic lily.

The new model for flower blooming overturns previous ideas of how the delicate structures unfold themselves.

Earlier models had explained blooming through different growth rates between the inner and outer layers of petals or motion in the midrib.

This new research shows that, as William Carlos Williams said, "It is at the edge of a petal that love waits."

The flower petals burst forth from their buds by elongating their edges more than their middles, the mathematicians found. The outside edges grow up to 40 percent more than the interior midrib, which causes the petals to wrinkle.

The wrinkling creates stresses in the bud until there comes a time when, as Anais Nin said, "the risk to remain tight in the bud was more painful than the risk it took to blossom."

The stresses force the bud to open, and the petals then curve and curl into the shapes that humans find so beautiful.

The new wrinkly-edge model not only helps scientists understand how flowers open but could lead to advances in bio-mimicry, or the engineering of devices based on models from nature, such as thin-film motors and actuators.

To understand how flowering happens, Haiyi Liang and L. Mahadevan, the Harvard researchers who conducted the study, marked lily buds with a series of dots, then watched as they opened in a time-lapse video.

The scientists then developed a mathematical model to explain what they had observed.

Mind Control Theories and Techniques used by Mass Media

Mass media is the most powerful tool used by the ruling class to manipulate the masses. It shapes and molds opinions and attitudes and defines what is normal and acceptable. This article looks at the workings of mass media through the theories of its major thinkers, its power structure and the techniques it uses, in order to understand its true role in society.

Most of the articles on this site discuss occult symbolism found in objects of popular culture. From these articles arise many legitimate questions relating to the purpose of those symbols and the motivations of those who place them there, but it is impossible for me to provide satisfactory answers to these questions without mentioning many other concepts and facts. I’ve therefore decided to write this article to supply the theoretical and methodological background of the analyzes presented on this site as well as introducing the main scholars of the field of mass communications. Some people read my articles and think I’m saying “Lady Gaga wants to control our minds”. That is not the case. She is simply a small part of the huge system that is the mass media.

About biodiversity

Source: IUCN

What is biodiversity?

Biological diversity - or biodiversity - is a term we use to describe the variety of life on Earth. It refers to the wide variety of ecosystems and living organisms: animals, plants, their habitats and their genes.

Biodiversity is the foundation of life on Earth. It is crucial for the functioning of ecosystems which provide us with products and services without which we couldn’t live. Oxygen, food, fresh water, fertile soil, medicines, shelter, protection from storms and floods, stable climate and recreation - all have their source in nature and healthy ecosystems. But biodiversity gives us much more than this. We depend on it for our security and health; it strongly affects our social relations and gives us freedom and choice.

Biodiversity is extremely complex, dynamic and varied like no other feature of the Earth. Its innumerable plants, animals and microbes physically and chemically unite the atmosphere (the mixture of gases around the Earth), geosphere (the solid part of the Earth), and hydrosphere (the Earth's water, ice and water vapour) into one environmental system which makes it possible for millions of species, including people, to exist.

At the same time, no other feature of the Earth has been so dramatically influenced by man’s activities. By changing biodiversity, we strongly affect human well-being and the well-being of every other living creature.

Biodiversity glossary

Biodiversity: the variability among living organisms from all sources including terrestrial, marine and other aquatic ecosystems, and the ecological complexes of which they are part; this includes diversity within species, between species, and of ecosystems.

An ecosystem: a community of plants, animals and smaller organisms that live, feed, reproduce and interact in the same area or environment.

An ecosystem service: a service people obtain from the environment. Ecosystem services are the transformation of natural assets (soil, plants and animals, air and water) into things that we value. They can be viewed as provisioning such as food and water; regulating, for example, flood and disease control; cultural such as spiritual, recreational, and cultural benefits; or supporting like nutrient cycling that maintain the conditions for life on Earth. Ecosystem ‘goods’ include food, medicinal plants, construction materials, tourism and recreation, and wild genes for domestic plants and animals.

Where is biodiversity and how can we measure it?

Biodiversity is everywhere. It occurs both on land and in water, from high altitudes to deep ocean trenches and it includes all organisms, from microscopic bacteria to more complex plants. Although many tools and data sources have been developed, biodiversity remains difficult to measure precisely. According to the Millenium Ecosystem Assessment, the total number of species on Earth ranges from five to 30 million and only 1.7–2 million species have been formally identified.

But we do not need precise figures and answers to devise an effective understanding of where biodiversity is, how it is changing over space and time, what are the drivers responsible for this change, its consequences for ecosystem services and human well-being, and the available response options.

There are many measures of biodiversity. Species richness (the number of species in a given area) represents a single but important metric that is valuable as the common currency of the diversity of life—but to fully capture biodiversity, it must be integrated with other metrics.

IUCN has access to many different kinds of information on species. The Red List of Threatened Species™ provides global assessments of the conservation status of species. The IUCN Species Survival Commission, together with the Species Programme and their partners have developed a number of approaches to build up a comprehensive picture of the status and trends in species and biodiversity at global, regional and national levels.

How much is it worth?
Unlike foods and other products that we buy in supermarkets, many ecosystem services have no price tag attached to them. This means that the importance of biodiversity and natural processes in providing benefits to people is ignored by financial markets. If the full economic value of these services was taken into account in decision-making, the degradation of ecosystem services could be significantly slowed down or even reversed.

This is what the Economics of Ecosystems and Biodiversity (TEEB) study is working towards. The study aims at developing mechanisms to assess the value of nature, drawing attention to the global economic benefits of biodiversity and highlighting the growing costs of its loss. IUCN plays a central role in this work.

The results of the study have demonstrated clearly that the economic value of biodiversity and ecosystems is significant but still poorly recognized and inadequately reflected in public and private decisions. In order to build support for and guide efforts to reduce ecosystem degradation and halt biodiversity loss, more information and wider understanding is needed of the local and global benefits of ecosystem services, and of the full costs of restoration and conservation.

Schizophrenia 'in a dish'

Source: Nature News

Before committing suicide at the age of 22, an anonymous man with schizophrenia donated a biopsy of his skin cells to research. Reborn as neurons, these cells may help neuroscientists to unpick the disease he struggled with from early childhood.

Experiments on these cells, as well as those of several other patients, are reported today in Nature1. They represent the first of what are sure to be many mental illnesses 'in a dish', made by reprogramming patients' skin cells to an embryonic-like state from which they can form any tissue type.

Recreating neuropsychiatric conditions such as schizophrenia and bipolar disorder using such cells represents a daunting challenge: scientists do not know the underlying biological basis of mental illnesses; symptoms vary between patients; and although psychiatric illnesses are strongly influenced by genes, it has proved devilishly hard to identify many that explain more than a fraction of a person's risk.

"All of us had been contacted by patients asking 'when can I get my stem cells to solve my schizophrenia'. It's not as simple as that," says Russell Margolis, a psychiatrist and neurogeneticist at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Maryland, who was not involved in the study. "It's an additional piece to the puzzle as opposed to the answer."

Cocktail recipe:

Since researchers reported that cocktails of particular genes can be used to reprogram human cells to an embryonic-like state2,3, scientists have learned to coax these 'induced pluripotent stem cells' (iPSCs) into various cell types and used them to try to work out what goes awry in disease. So far, iPSC-derived models have been published for about a dozen diseases, from rare heart conditions4,5 to hereditary blood diseases6.

Fred Gage, a neuroscientist at the Salk Institute for Biological Studies in San Diego, California, and his team created iPSC models from the cells of the 22-year-old man mentioned above, as well as those of two brother–sister pairs, all of whom had either schizophrenia or related conditions such as schizoaffective disorder.

When the authors transformed the iPSCs into neurons, they noticed that the patient-derived cells made fewer connections, or synapses, with other neurons in the same dish than did neurons from people without psychiatric disorders. However, tests showed that the patients' neurons conducted electrical pulses just as well as normal neurons did.

Interestingly, the antipsychotic medication loxapine, used to treat schizophrenia, boosted the number of synapses formed by the patient-derived neurons to normal levels.

Four other antipsychotic drugs had no consistent effect, although Gage notes that all of the drugs benefited cells from at least one patient. His team also reported differences in gene expression between the neurons of patients with schizophrenia and those of healthy people, including changes in genes related to synapse function and others previously implicated in genetic studies of the disease.

63 percent of people killed in Iraq war were civilians: report

Editor’s Note: THE REAL DEATH TOLL IS OVER 1 MILLION: Top Project Censored Story of 2009: U.S. War Machine Kills Over One Million Iraqis

BEIJING, April 10 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-led wars in Iraq and Afghanistan have been causing huge civilian casualties with 63 percent of some 109,000 people killed in the Iraq war being civilians, according to a report on the U.S. human rights record released on Sunday.

The figures were quoted from a WikiLeaks trove by the Human Rights Record of the United States in 2010, which was released by the Information Office of China's State Council in response to the country reports on Human Rights Practices for 2010 issued by the U.S. Department of State.

Figures from the WikiLeaks website also revealed up to 285,000 war casualties in Iraq from March 2003 through the end of 2009, according to the report.

"The U.S. military actions in Afghanistan and other regions have also brought tremendous casualties to local people," said the report.

The report cited the notorious case on a "kill team" formed by five soldiers from the 5th Stryker Combat Brigade, 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. forces in Afghanistan. The team had committed at least three murders, where they randomly targeted and killed Afghan civilians, and dismembered the corpses and hoarded the human bones.

In addition, the U.S.-led North Atlantic Treaty Organization troops had caused 535 Afghan civilian deaths and injuries in 2009. Among them 113 civilians were shot and killed, an increase of 43 percent over 2008, the report quoted McClatchy Newspapers as saying.

Oil Hits 32-Month High As Unrest Persists in the Middle East

With the civil war in Libya now entering its third week, Egypt moving haltingly towards free elections, and hundreds dead in Syria, Yemen and Bahrain after a month of anti-government protests in each country, the Middle East is rife with instability. On Wednesday, April 6, that instability pushed the spot price of Brent oil above US$123 per barrel, a high not seen since August 2008 when prices were crashing from an all-time peak of US$147.50 on the eve of the financial crisis.

The Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) is brushing aside pressure to act, saying it is already doing all it can to subdue the rally.

“All that OPEC can do is provide the market with the oil it needs, and it is doing that,” said Hussain al-Shahristani, Iran’s deputy prime minister for Energy Affairs, at a Paris oil conference. “We have not seen any slowdown in growth.”

Scientists warn future drugs will be designed to control human mind

Source: Ethan A. Huff
             NaturalNews
             April 15, 2011

It may sound like something out of a science fiction plot, but Oxford researchers say that modern conventional medicine is gradually developing ways to change the moral states of humans through pharmaceutical drugs, and thus control the way people think and act in various life situations. These new drugs will literally have the ability to disrupt an individual’s personal morality, and instead reprogram that person to believe and do whatever the drug designer has created that drug to do.

“Science has ignored the question of moral improvement so far, but it is now becoming a big debate,” said Dr. Guy Kahane from the Oxford Centre for Neuroethics in the UK. “There is already a growing body of research you can describe in these terms. Studies show that certain drugs affect the ways people respond to moral dilemmas by increasing their sense of empathy, group affiliation and by reducing aggression.”

While this may sound good in theory, mind control is already a very dangerous side effect of existing drugs. Take the antidepressant drug Prozac, for instance, which has been known to cause those taking it to lash out in violent rages. One young boy murdered his father by beating him and stabbing him in the head, and hit his mother with a crowbar and stabbed her in the face, shortly after starting to take Prozac http://www.naturalnews.com/032088_mind_control_drugs.html

But the kinds of drugs Kahane and his colleagues are referring to imply designer drugs specifically designed to not only alter one’s mental state, but also to change the way that person thinks about situations from a moral perspective. The end result is literally a type of drug-induced mind control where human subjects will be controlled by someone else, and unable to make conscious decisions for themselves.

Research on the subject, of course, tries to paint the idea of mind-control drugs in a positive light, suggesting that they could be used to help make the world a better place. Just imagine less violence, more trust, and more love, they say. This rhetoric, though, is really just a ploy to further numb the already mind-numbed masses into accepting the idea as a good thing.

What is Global Warming and Climate Change?

Global warming and climate change refer to an increase in average global temperatures. Natural events and human activities are believed to be contributing to an increase in average global temperatures. This is caused primarily by increases in “greenhouse” gases such as Carbon Dioxide (CO2).

A warming planet thus leads to a change in climate which can affect weather in various ways, as discussed further below.

What are the main indicators of Climate Change?

As explained by the US agency, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), there are 7 indicators that would be expected to increase in a warming world (and they are), and 3 indicators would be expected to decrease (and they are):

Industry’s war on nature: ‘What are the bees telling us?’

Source: globalresearch.ca

While industries continue to pollute the planet with their toxic chemicals, toxic waste and toxic spills, Earth’s pollinators sing a swan song that leaves no doubt as to the folly of modern civilization. Our ability to hear and appropriately respond to the crisis of declining pollinators will determine humanity’s survival.

“In 1923, Rudolf Steiner, an Austrian scientist, philosopher and social innovator, predicted that in 80 to 100 years honeybees would collapse.” Queen of the Sun

Steiner believed the industrialization of bees would lead to their demise. It looks like he was right. In the past two decades, the United States has lost 100-300 billion bees, and the problem has spread to Europe and beyond. While industrialized beekeeping operations do kill millions of bees each year, several other factors contribute to their massive die-off.

Pollinators are sickened by lack of a diverse diet from the tens of millions of monoculture acres. By ingesting genetically modified crops, pollinators also ingest GM microbes, to their detriment. By and far, though, agrochemicals contribute most to pollinator decimation. In a last ditch effort to save the hive, some bees seal off hive cells that contain inordinate amounts of pesticide. But even these hives eventually die.

Bolstering industry’s multi-factor assault on nature, the ubiquitous communications industry adds electromagnetic pollution, causing bees (and birds) to lose their ability to navigate. Taking advantage of weakened, disoriented bees, exotic pathogens like the Varroa mite, imported via globalized trade, suck the remaining life out of them. And, so, we see the collapse of the honeybee and North American bats.

Much of this we learn in Taggart Siegel’s part philosophical love story, part documentary, Queen of the Sun: What are the bees telling us? Theatrically released on March 25, the award-winning film is further supported by a newly released report from the United Nations Environment Programme, Global Bee Colony Disorders and other Threats to Insect Pollinators.

A sure way to collapse an ecosystem is to decimate a keystone species – one from which the entire localized web of life radiates. Pollinators contribute nearly ten percent to the global food economy, or about $218 billion USD (€153 billion) a year. Of the 100 or so crop species that provide 90% of the world’s food, bees pollinate 71 of them, according to UNEP’s report. Among the 20,000 known bee species worldwide, the honeybee, Apis mellifera, is most important, contributing between $33 and $82 billion annually (€22.8 to €57 billion).

So while we are witnessing the planet’s sixth extinction spasm (popularly detailed in Ed Wilson’s The Diversity of Life), it is the bee that garners our deserved attention.

“Bees are the legs of plants,” Michael Pollan explains in Queen of the Sun. They co-evolved so that the sessile organism feeds the aerial one in exchange for propagation. That mutualism supports much of life today. Without pollinators, crops will collapse. As crops collapse, myriads of species, including humans, will starve.

When pollinators go, so will flowering plants. The chain reaction collapse can easily then lead to the end of the Age of Mammals. This would be similar to the end of the Age of Dinosaurs some 65 million years ago. The “terrible lizards” will have outlasted us by 100 million years. Only about half of all species survived that last extinction spasm – notably alligators and crocodiles. But human survival is hardly guaranteed if 40% of our food sources vanish. While gators and crocs can go a year or more without eating – and this survival mechanism vastly contributes to the species’ longevity – humans cannot.

The UNEP report lists eight reasons for colony collapse disorder: Habitat destruction, invasive species (like the parasitic mite, Varroa destructor), air pollution, electromagnetic pollution, pesticides and other chemical pollution, industrial transport (where a million bees die each year), colony splitting, and diet. The report does not mention genetically engineered crops as a contributing factor to bee decline, but does attack monocultures:

“It is increasingly difficult for pollinators to obtain sufficient pollen sources for all their essential amino acids. Consequently, this can weaken the insects’ immune system, making them more vulnerable to various pathogens.”

In Queen of the Sun, several speakers have no doubt. When plants are genetically altered (via a crude gun method), the process is so unreliable that only one out of thousands of cells transmutes. Dr Vandana Shiva explains that, because of this, antibiotic resistant genes and viral promoters have to be added. “Every genetically engineered seed is a bundle of bacteria, toxins, and viral promoters.”

These GM bacteria, toxins, and viral promoters are transferred into our gut (and that of bees), where they continue to function within the host. Only now, we’re the host. The bee is the host. And bees aren’t doing so well. Science has shown that high fructose corn syrup, a GM product fed to bees, inhibits genetic expression of immunity and detox functions.

Queen of the Sun highlights the delicate balance among the various members of an ecosystem, making the point that genetic integrity is required for the system to work. In order for the bee (or the flowering plant) to be the best at what it does, its DNA must remain intact.

Both the film and the UNEP report leave no doubt that the collapse of pollinators is the most urgent problem facing humanity today. Both make several suggestions to agribusiness and individuals, including: Stop (or greatly slow) the use of pesticides, grow bee friendly crops, buy organic, provide habitat and fresh water, and become a sustainable beekeeper. The UNEP report notes that pollinator conservation efforts should also plan nursery habitats, since the requirements of larval stages differ from winged adults.

Given that bee and bat decline is most severe in the United States, which has the longest history of deploying GM crops and which uses more agrochemicals than any other nation, the culprit seems pretty obvious. The top six agrochemical companies, Syngenta, Bayer CropScience, BASF, Monsanto, Dow Agrosciences, and DuPont, also spread genetically modified crops.

Pollinators are keeping score of the corporate war on nature. They are telling us that pesticides, biotechnology, and cell phones are winning. The tragedy is that when pollinators go, so will flowering plants and, likely, the Age of Mammals.

Treatments for Nuclear Contamination

It is too early to call everyone in North America to prepare for a radiation cloud streaming down radioactive particles from the accident in Japan. According to the media and government, America is not at risk due to radioactive fallout from the recent Japanese nuclear accidents in several reactors but that could change in a heartbeat as authorities race to combat the threat of multiple nuclear reactor meltdowns. Nuclear plant operators are working frantically to try to keep temperatures down in several reactors crippled by the earthquake and tsunami, wrecking at least two by dumping sea water into them in last-ditch efforts to avoid meltdowns.

Now, just hours after writing this above paragraph we get a report in the New York Times indicating that even best case scenarios include radioactive releases of steam from the crippled plants could go on for weeks, months or even years. So prepare we must. "Pentagon officials reported Sunday that helicopters flying 60 miles from the plant picked up small amounts of radioactive particulates — still being analyzed, but presumed to include Cesium-137 and Iodine-121 — suggesting widening environmental contamination. More steam releases also mean that the plume headed across the Pacific could continue to grow," printed the Times.

The incident is a reminder that preparedness should include being prepared for nuclear events with foods and medicinals in our medical cabinets that will protect us and our families as much as humanly and medically possible. Many people in Japan and elsewhere around the world that live and work close to nuclear plants will be seriously affected by nuclear accidents. When a meltdown happens the effects can be carried thousands of miles by the prevailing winds.

It is unclear how far the impact of a meltdown might reach. In the United States, local communities plan for evacuation typically within 10 miles of a nuclear plant. However, states must be ready to cope with contamination of food and water as far as 50 miles away. When it comes to risks and toxic exposure levels we can count on the government and medical officials to understate the threat. This is something consistent in their approach to all types of toxic exposures.

Besides having iodine on hand for emergencies, we can grow (and, at present, purchase) herbs and foods that prevent our bodies from storing radioactive particles. Some of these foods and herbs even remove radioactive particles from our bodies. As we are all already being affected by radiation released by numerous sources, eating these foods and doing detoxification and chelation protocols regularly is a good idea.

If you have been exposed to too many X-rays or CAT scans, if you fly too much, work with diagnostic medical equipment or are environmentally sensitive and have ingested elevated levels of radioactive contaminated food, air or water, you also want to partake of the following protocol on a regular basis.

North Carolina not the only state trying to criminalize alternative health services

A closer look at the attempt by North Carolina legislators to criminalize anything other than state sponsored health care is quite revealing. Below is the bill text, sort of, with some observations about the language, or lack thereof, defining what this bill is actually intended to do.

What is apparent is that it is the first step in implementing various aspects of Codex Alimentarius which excludes any health practice not listed in the Codex. Codex specifically targets and intends to end the use of alternative therapies and also vitamins and supplements.

Please note that this bill does not contain any statement of legislative intent. In other words, what is the intention of this bill, exactly?
Now, commonsense would tell you that in all likelihood North Carolina already does have laws, regulations, statutes, codes and whatever else they could throw in there, on the books regarding the practice of medicine. And, I think it safe to presume there are also copious amounts of criminal statutes, regulations, etc., dealing with illegal practice of medicine. So what could be the possible future intention and use of this bill, as obviously it is not to simply reign in marauding fraudulent medical practitioners who might be invading North Carolina, performing surgeries, handing out toxic pharmaceuticals and not paying a fee to the state to perform these activities. The books are full of laws criminalizing and enforcement of illegal medical practitioners.

So let us take a closer look at this “bill” which is attached below.

The first thing you will note is that it says “a bill to be Entitled”, a clear indicator that the actual bill itself is either not written or not presented.

Second: There is no statement of legislative intent. This leaves interpretation of the bill up to the corporate state agency that will be charged with implementing the bill, along with writing, after the fact, statutes and regulations, including enforcement provisions which will of course establish a fleet of agents and operatives who will act as “medical police”.

Third: The bill deals with nothing other than making criminal, anything not registered, licensed and fees paid. This is not about health care or criminal activity (remember there are tons of laws on the books already dealing with this).

Its about establishing Codex guidelines and the collection of new revenue. It also will force the adoption of Codex guidelines as part of the contract (you applied for contract with the state asking permission to do business when you fill out the application for license). You are applying for a license to conduct business: this is an application of contract. Once you obtain the new license you are now bound to adhere to the code of the agency controlling the guidelines. Codes are the terms of contract law.

Fourth: The bill is so broadly written so as to allow broad interpretation by the agency charged with administering it. And this is where things will go awry.

While many of us immediately realized this bill was written vaguely so as to accommodate the coming criminalization of naturopathy, homeopathy, mid-wiving and aromatherapy, if it was performed without a license (you aren’t doing anything harmful or illegal you just aren’t paying the state another fee to do it) it would also adversely affect internet sales of vitamins and supplements, including herbal remedies. In order to sell via the net in North Carolina, you would have to register, pay the fee and get a license.

Also, conspicuous in its absence, is the definition of what “medicine” is under this bill. Is this orthodox state approved medical practice? Is it confined to this? Or does it include anything the state defines as medical practice after the fact?

Turns out all our suspicions were correct. The bill was intended as a broad catch-all that would by agency regulation be implemented to criminalize anything but state approved, registered, licensed and fee paid, health activity. Enter these three new bills, launched after SB 31 was outed for the attack on alternative health services that it was intended to be.

SB 467 Naturopathic Licensing Act (Hartsell, R-Cabarrus)
HB 522 Midwifery Licensing Act ( Human Services Committee)
HB 847 Naturopathic Doctors Licensing Act
Researching these bills I find that virtually every state of the Union is introducing identical bills simultaneously. In almost all instances these bills are being introduced by Republicans. This is a concerted effort across all states, by Republicans, to criminalize anything other than state approved, licensed, registered and fees paid alternative health practices. These bills are a direct attack on the individuals right to obtain the healthcare of their choice.

Apparently, North Carolina just as every other state finds no problem with toxic pharmaceuticals, vaccines and other lethal practices as long as these things are administered by state approved agents. Hundreds of thousands of people are harmed, and an average of 250,000 die each year by these things and yet we see no bills coming out of any state to stop, penalize or limit their use.

Anytime a legislator introduces a bill that lacks any real substance in the way of defining what the bill will address and is only one paragraph you can take it to the bank that the bill is not intended to do anything other than lay the foundations for agency regulations. Agency regulations are not subject to the constitution and do not recognize any rights or protections afforded you in that document. The real dirty deed will be done by the corporate state or federal agency. These kinds of vague and broadly written “bills” that lack any true definition or intention, are simply the keys used to open the doors to unconstitutional assaults on your rights.

Please check your own state for recent bills that address these same issues. North Carolina isn’t alone in this.
